Ending with this excerpt from a Vogue UK interview:
How does it feel to be considered a very beautiful person? Does it affect the way you view yourself?
Liu: "I’ve never considered myself as someone very beautiful. It’s only the career of a “model” that conveys and sculpts what beauty can be. The more people are able to witness my work and understand all sides of me, the more I can help communicate my personal understanding of beauty. Perhaps, when you’re dubbed beautiful on the outside, there are some advantages, but those advantages are not the only factors that determine a person’s worth."
She's always been one of my favorites! Her body is 10/10 (for me) and she doesn't yo-yo or fluctuate. If I could get her willpower/discipline as a gift for Christmas, I would die happy.
More from the MET: I think she looks even better in motion! The draping looks better and doesn't hide her body as much.
For my fellow cinephiles, I love this spread since it reminds me so much of Wong Kar-Wai and the colors seem straight out of "In the Mood for Love". Chen Ke is a feminist painter whose work I've seen, and she actually styled Liu for some pictures. I love her words on Wen: ”I’ve read so many stories and seen countless images of Liu Wen. There is a feminine radiance and silent strength about her,“ says Chen Ke. ”I feel that this moment is the balance between Liu Wen‘s persona as a kind of warrior and the way I portray women from a values perspective: having the right of choice, being independently minded, unwaveringly creative. There’s a futurism to her here - a sense of fusion between human and machine; the instantaneous power of an immediately recognisable face on a global stage.
