I adore Natalia Vodianova! She's one of my favorite models and thinspirations. I've always wanted her legs...
<- this one creeps me out
<- this one creeps me out
I know! Especially because Natalia herself has such a childlike face!!!
You say that like it's a bad thing.
Her style
She defines her own style as very feminine, she prefers dresses to jeans and T-shirts. She says she has fun choosing her outfits for any occasion: “I enjoy dressing up.”
Zoom
She began her career as a model in Paris, at the age of 17. Then, towards the end of the '90s, she began working with famous photographers for the most prestigious glossies. From 2003 to 2006, she was the testimonial for Calvin Klein. Since 2009, she's been designing a capsule collection of lingerie and beachwear for the French label Etam.
She's worked with the most famous photographers: for Vogue Italia, the list includes Steven Meisel, Paolo Roversi and Peter Lindbergh. Today, she's one of the highest-paid models in the world.
Things you should know
She has a magnetic gaze and a child-like allure, but her personality is strong and determined. She's sincere when she talks about her children and her foundation The Naked Heart, which creates playgrounds in Russia. She gets moved when she speaks about the situation for children in her native country. She's very close to her mother, the person who has given her so much emotionally, and her grandmother, who is a style inspiration.
What's next?
She just finished shooting the film, "Belle du Seigneur", the dramatic story of a passionate love story. Taken from the eponymous book by Albert Cohen, the film is directed by Gleno Bonder and the male lead is played by Jonathan Rhys Meyer. The movie is set for release at the end of the year.
Alternative projects/other interests
She keeps busy with her foundation, The Naked Heart, organizing fund-raising events around the world. Her work for the foundation takes her to Russia very often, and she has a close relationship with various local organization.
Relationship status
She's married to Justin Portman, the artist and heir to a wealthy noble English family. They have three children: Lucas, 9; Neva, 7; Viktor, 2.
Favorite dress
Her wardrobe is full of many pieces that were gifts from couturiers and designers like Valentino, Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy. Her wedding dress was designed by Tom Ford. Other favorite designers include Kenzo and Dries Van Noten.Bags, shoes, jewels: she favors flat shoes in both winter and summer. Her most recent purchases include lace-ups by Church in brights colors that she wears without laces. For the evening she'll wear a pair of high-heeled sandals. She likes to feel comfortable: in the countryside she wears Wellington boots. She has an almost obsessive passion for jewelry – rings and necklaces and earrings – and she enjoys studying them and looking for them. She doesn't wear bracelets.
Her favorite food:
her grandmother's desserts that she'd prepare during family gatherings.
Shopping:
Her last trip to Paris included a trip to Charvet for shirts and men's sweaters
Vacation:
she spent last summer in Uruguay; there's a family house in Antigua and she skies in Verbier, Switzerland with her family.
On the cover of Vogue Russia June 2012
I hate this cover... the hair looks bad (there is such a thing as too eighties), i don't like her face expression and then there's the yellow shorts....? Who did the styling and approved of this? They won't sell a lot of magazines with this one. Okay, "rant" over....it's only Vogue Russia after all .
*cringe* I don't like Russian style either...
