What exactly is this? We don't have it in the states (that I've seen at least...) - is it like a Sprite Zero? (Lol it is summertime and I'm looking for a good zero calorie light colored drink, they're too fruity for my palette so far..)

It's literally just sprite zero with a coca-cola label

Anybody else miss the pre-instagram days when all the pics in this thread were taken of the models eating and not by them?

There's something that I always find slightly irritating about people posting pictures of their food. Maybe because I hate being in a restaurant and someone takes out their phone instead of just enjoying the meal. Even if it's just a shot of "look what I've got for breakfast" I just find it... distasteful. Personally I think there's nothing more anti-glamorous than someone being less than fully present, and you just can't have real presence or dignity while you're photographing your smoothie.

Then again, maybe I'm just old and cranky. :slinkout:

Same. I think it was funner to see the (potentially candid) shots taken by others b/c you got to see the actual reaction of the model next to food she may or may not have even wanted to be around. Photos by others could be more honest...or misleading which was fun to interpret. Photos by the models themselves seem to part of their carefully or NOT carefully crafted image. Especially annoying are the the 'I'm just a regular girl eating fatty fatty food!" photos.

While I am interested in seeing models' healthy, light, or nonexistent food to get a small sneak peak of their real lives, but overall I still prefer to see pictures of models as the main focus more than what is on their plates. I'm happy to see them fabulously dressed at a cafe smoking with an espresso or sparkling water or what they might have a single bite of behind the scenes of a show....

... She says as she literally just posted a picture of her lunch in the *show us what you eat* thread....

In my defense, I only do that if I'm by myself and at home, never in public or with others, and it's only so I can use SGF to hold myself accountable for what I'm eating... But then, considering that, I can also see how someone with a lot of Instagram followers would use her platform for the same purpose... So maybe I was being a little too harsh. :shame:

I just feel so embarrassed when I see someone taking out their iPhone in a restaurant, especially when other people are with them. It's as if they're ignoring the guests who are actually present with them in favor of the virtual ones who they probably don't even know. It feels very wrong to me, like a meal is not the appropriate place for social networking and self-promoting.
:tsk::rant::smash:

Ok, ok, I'll get off my soap box now.

Although I disagree with the second half of your statement, I can’t help but miss the candid models-with-food photos.

I completely understand the impression that you're getting, however taking a picture is literally a matter of half a second, and it doesn't mean you won't spend the rest of the meal chatting with the guests who are present.

I get the same impression/vibe, don't get me wrong, but upon further thought, what's wrong with taking a quick snap of the food you're about to have?
I do it every now and then if it looks particularly aesthetic, and it may appear cringey, but as I said, it takes half a second if that (I actually often look back on the pictures I take)

I then just proceed to have a lively and entertaining conversation with whomever I'm having food with at the time
