I never understood the hype of that movie.
Could someone explain to me why did it become so popular?
Have you read the book? It was published around 6 years before the film was made and I believe it was very well received which might explain why people were interested in seeing the film. I also think the casting of James Woods and Kathleen Turner for the parents helped make it an interesting prospect.
I read the book when it first came out and found it very intriguing so was naturally interested in seeing the film and also in seeing what Francis Ford Coppola's daughter would be like as a director as I'd read somewhere he'd taught her a lot.
It's not my favourite film or book, but it's a very good movie adaptation of an interesting enough book so that's what I like about it!
