Unconventional Jewelry Favorites

My latest obsession is Rachel Comey. In love with the Baby Factor model, especially the last one

I love interesting pearl jewelry and one of my favorites recently has been Avec New York. The designer also has the most bomb nail art + ring combos on her instagram.

Paola Vilas has been a longtime love of mine! She’s a Brazilian born artist who creates wearable sculptures inspired by feminine forms. I adore every last piece 🥰

Arje Griegst is a Danish jeweller and one of the most brilliant craftsmen I know. My ex gifted me a ring of his and it's one of my most precious pieces.

My tastes vary a tonne-

I feel like you never see art deco anymore which is just such a shame... look at this Cartier & Concord platinum and diamond watch. Look at how intricate and delicate the pieces are... the size of the clock face.

I love the look of these bone bracelets from small snake spines. You can sometimes find intricately carved bracelets from cow horns as well. They're beautiful, but I'd never get one. I think one paired with an otherwise traditional-glam outfit would be stunning.

And years later, I'm still in love with Cast of Vices' Coming or Going bracelet even though I know it's gimmicky as hell. I'd wear it with athlesure.

I love bracelets but I can never find any to fit except children's jewelry which is never the highest quality.

I’m not much for wearing jewelry - I don’t find it terribly practical in my daily life (currently wearing a simple silver necklace with a Joan of Arc quote from my mom, a moonstone bracelet, my Fitbit (I love my band for it, simple metal magnet closure and looks very sleek) and two rainbow bracelets, plus plain silver hoop earrings x7), but I’m actually kind of obsessed with this octopus bracelet that one of my friends send me the link to:

I love all things octopus and it’s just kind of fun. I’d never wear it, but damnit I kind of want it anyway. 😂

Blades are so elegant to me; I have a friend who collects all sorts of fancy weapons and I wish I could wear them as accessories without freaking people out! I’m not a huge jewelry person myself —I’ll admire it as artwork all day but I never feel comfortable wearing it— but I’ve been searching for good sword earrings. There’s several out there but they all look like they were made by Hot Topic. I want something like this but made of sterling silver and more finely crafted. It seems like swords are an obvious choice for earrings yet I can’t find any nice ones.

I have to add in one of my favorite brands–– Mignon Faget. It's located in New Orleans, & though I'm not very fond of their pieces in the shapes of crawfish, pelicans, tigers, etc., I adore some of their others that are based on the city's architecture. In fact, I recently received these as a birthday gift, & it's such a gorgeous accent piece when a simpler outfit is in need of one.

Saw these on the Pamela Love site the other day - they’re pretty similar! I love the gold pair.

Just found out about this thread and I love it!

I am obsessed with Bernard Delettrez creations, super unique, top quality.
I’m also biased since I am a huge fan of that gothic, kind of grotesque style, plus I really like insects.

Despite being worn many times by Asia Argento on the X Factor Italy (which has a huge follow here) and being somehow related to the Fendi family, I don’t think he’s very popular, at least in Rome, but that’s where he has his shop.

anyway, this is his Instagram page:

his official website:

My favourite pieces, all not too pricey/still kind of affordable:

I have the gold one, I'm such an Elsa fan (I blame my parents who got me an EP cross when I was born). It's pretty heavy, and I have the smaller one. I think they also make your lower arms look less elegant and a bit fatter, because it bisects your arm, so if that is a concern, stay away. Its such a clever design, with room for your wrist bone so the cuff can fit flush and not hurt. Overall it's a beautiful, versatile, and understated piece, and you should go for it!

My faves at the moment are Bliss Lau and Jenny Wu!

Bliss Lau (started her career after graduating from Parsons with body chains but focuses on rings now)

@thinemesis: First of all: Thank you for replying! Second: Is it be possible for you to insert a photo of your wrist with the bangle? I am curious about how it looks in reality. Haven’t had the chance to try it on yet...

There are some really stunning pieces here.

For day to day, I prefer sticking to a few more subtle pieces.
Currently in my cart - Maria Black Disrupted earrings. I've had these in different size variations but they were stolen. So I'll repurchase these despite being a bit older as I think they make great basics.

Her Jewelry isn't necessarily unconventional per se, but I like the understated vibe for day to day essentials.

South Asian Jewelry

Jhumkas.
They are mainly used for bridal/festive attire throughout South Asia, but can be worn casually. These are my absolute favorite type of earrings, so ornate and add a beautiful touch to any outfit!

These are more cultural so I apologize if this is the wrong thread, but I suppose they would be unconventional to non-South Asians. :)

I always dream about Cartier’s Crash watch. Can’t explain it, but something about the design of the watch is just fascinating to me. It’s also very expensive, so unless I’m given a trust fund by an unknown great-grandmother, I’ll never have it.
