Ask a model anything

Yeah, things like runway show and editorials don't really pay (you may get a couple hundred but after fees it's effectively nothing). They serve to "promote" the model. A true supermodel might get something but 95% get next to nothing. They pay is more in the prestige.
Saint Laurent exclusive = $
Givenchy campaign = $$
Old Navy campaign = $$$
Old Navy commercial = $$$$$
Marc Jacobs Campaign = pocket change

haha

From Grace Harzel's thread:

She does tend to yo yo, but only on account of client feedback saying she's too skinny, then too big, then too skinny again. She's a really good girl and takes her job so seriously, she tries so hard to adapt with any criticism, I'm sure, at times, to her own detriment. But yeah, any changes in her weight are concentrated efforts to please clients, never a sign of laziness, or disregard.

How common is this? Does anyone know of other models that do this?

...And what clients are asking her to gain weight? :run:

I second this - would be really interested to know! Good on her for adapting to a client's requests though.

I know several models who've had to gain to get a good agency, but I suppose it depends on the market. Also, those girls have been around 180cm tall, so 86 hips would make it difficult to book jobs like showroom and presentations while starting up.

I have myself been told this many times, but always from male photographers who are either more artistic and don't care so much about size (or more commercial), but that's more because my upper body is very bony. A few years ago I had 36 inch hips and got told to gain 10 lbs by a client because "you dont look good", but I kept losing and changed market ;)

My booker told me he would take me off his board if I went back to my lowest weight :hyper:

You skinny! ;)

I've told a couple girls that, but I've told a lot more of them I'd take them off if they gained, or didn't lose x amount. And I always keep my word. :tribe:

I was wondering this too :) what is considered too skinny?

It depends on the model, her body/frame, and the kind of work she is being marketed for. We do a lot of fashion, esp HF, so skinny is in demand. But if a girl looks sick that's no good. You can't put a number on it. Some girls look sick at 110 or more and some look shiny and healthy at 95.

In response to this, what tips do you or other VIPs have to looking shiny and healthy at lower weights? I know we have a thread on looking fresh while losing, but I was wondering if their were special tips from models.

I'm no VIP, but keep your skin perfect and wear eye cream.

This is open to all VIPs, not just the models. In your opinions, what countries produce the best girls? As in,
  • best bodies
  • best attitudes
  • best (easiest) to work with
I've heard that E. European girls are really nice to work with because they don't tend to have the same entitlement issues that a lot of people say the Western models have. No offense to our Western girls, of course.
