What I love is that, since she is Hollywood royalty, her candid pics are never accompanied by "too thin?" headlines. Its like she is untouchable
despite being Julia Robert's daughter. And even if that were the case, the fact that she may be Hollywood royalty hasn't stopped the media writing other negative things about her - remember when she got into a violent fight with her boyfriend Evan Peters? The media went to town on her!.
she apparently was booted from Spring Breaker for refusing to gain weight for the role. The directors wanted a "more average" type of girl.Emma has always been borderline-impressive to me. I think it's because she's so petite (not skinny but a small person in general). Look at her legs compared to others in spring breakers
That being said, sometimes she's not skinny for her. I think that's the difference. You can be a petite person but still be "full". Her arms have never looked sharp enough for me to say she's SG skinny.
Well they really got it with the other onesshe apparently was booted from Spring Breaker for refusing to gain weight for the role. The directors wanted a "more average" type of girl.

If that's true that makes me happy to hear. Granted she probably has enough money and industrial pull with her aunt that she didn't need spring breakers to make her career, but I like that she took a stand and didn't give up the skinny body she liked because Americans need to feel good about seeing people like themselves in bikinis
Interesting that we criticise Jennifer Lawrence for refusing to lose weight for a role but praise Emma Roberts for refusing to gain weight for a role. I think if the role calls for it, actresses should transform their body accordingly - whether that means gaining weight or losing weight. Men gain and lose weight for roles all the time - no questions asked. Obviously Emma's situation was different because she just flat out refused to be in the movie but it would have annoyed me if she had been in the movie and refused to change her body for it.

I think it depends on the movie. Spring Breakers was a hot mess. There wasn't really a plot, no character growth. There is no impact with the movie if Roberts does or does not lose weight. The Hunger Games lost it's impact/social commentary with Lawrence being thicker (and white, but I'm not blaming that on her)
Like @Kit said, Spring Breakers wasn't a movie impacted by size. It was drugged up girls running around in bikinis. She was supposed to lose weight so the audience could relate to her while seeing her in a bikini...that's a stupid reason.
Movies where the story is benefitted by weight gain/loss etc. whether it be based on a real character/true story, just make the plot realistic or whatever, is a different story. In that case I would agree it is their job to look the type if they want that role.
That's why i mentioned being Julia Roberts' niece as well as past acting gigs probably helped her ability to turn it down. An up and coming actress would risk her career by not gaining the weight and probably couldn't afford that
