I have no idea why people feel how they do- that's just my take though!
I really DO like her face though haha. Very commercial looking and not HF, but we can't all be born goddesses like Vlada.

But the criticism is mostly for being a commercial model. In SG everyone loves the HF aesthetic more than anything, but really, as much as I love it and do prefer it way more than others you have to admit it's not the only type of modelling out there. And for a commercial/swimwear/lingerie model, Hailee is great and certainly sells. She does have a very commercial look but people seem to think that commercial is instantly bad when it's really not, I for once was surprised that a commercial girl could look "stunning" (at least to me). Commercial modeling is not as prestigious, but it's certainly been downgraded (by Tumblr elitist fashionistas, maybe?).
And even if HF does have more prestige, in some time she'll probably be making a shitload more money than an intriguingly edgy/superskinny Ukrainian girl with a name that goes like Illana Ilmiranovamirova walking NYFW that has been modeling for the same time as her. So commercial actually does have its perks.
As for her body, it's not impressive by SG standards and I do think that she should work on it and she'd improve a lot, but for her work it's just ok. I don't think she'd get much commercial work if she had Snejana's (glorious but inevitably unappealing to the masses) measurements. Even so, I think comparing her with Kate Cowton goes way too far. Although she might have an edgier, more striking look at maybe like a BMI 15-16, I think her face from first glance just explains why she's done stuff like Nike. She would be great for something like VS and I find her face a lot more interesting/appealing than a lot of same old dull VS models. I want to see her at Madga's size for VS!

I agree with everything you said. I think she's pretty. But it's different pretty to Vlada pretty or other high fashion models. I just think her face is interesting and in my opinion should not be compared to Kate Upton. Kate Upton screams

She has a lot of potential. She'd be a nice fit for Pink for Victoria's Secret. But I think to sharpen her facial features and really bring her look to the next level she'd need to lose about 25 pounds or so.
