I never cared to read anything about him until after that incident. Of course, what I read fully supported the "you can't get anywhere without sucking some literal dicks" attitude. The fact that so many people brush the allegations against him off as jealousy or fame-seeking is just another reason why these things go unreported.
Now, if he addressed this issue - because he is clearly associated with it by many, justly or not - and spoke out against it, I'd reconsider my opinion.

I will note that I'm not speaking about his work, which is better than most. And of course, I don't know him personally so I fully accept that my opinion isn't fact.

He has spoken out about it. The quotes are not too hard to find - they might have been posted in this forum already actually.

I went a-googling and found it, or at least part of it (the links I found to the original blog post were dead, unfortunately).
All I saw of it was a vague response, which is better than nothing, and of course there might have been more in the original. I was hoping for a more specific reaction, maybe addressing how it is in fact a problem in the industry that needs fixing.
(if anyone has a good link to the original, i'd like to check it out too.)

Yes, he didn't respond with a teary speech but he doesn't have to answer to anyone. It sucks you had a bad experience but what sucks more is that you think you are now entitled to judge others because of it. How about you go do a shoot for Terry and then post again.

Count me in this group too! I love his work. I find it, as you guys do, very different in its minimalistic, clean, sharp, high contrast style. His work is pure existential absurdity. He uses so few colours, yet when they're there, they are so saturated and rich and bold. It's all about excesses and ridiculousness presented in this streamlined format. The other thing I love about his work is there's always so much wit and humour behind his shots, and more often than not it's slightly dark, in the mose nuanced of senses. No one can get people to poke fun of themselves like Terry can (which is why I tend to like shots of models he's taken, even when they're models I don't particularly like - See Stam and Crystal Renn below). And they're also sexy, in the most visceral yet charming of ways.

He is professional and makes amazing shots... Love most of his work. Although some of his photos (especially on his blog) I've found to be over the board of artistic and more pornographic but that might just be me.

O dear, the picture of MK is amazing. It's like she carries all the suffering in the eyes. I wonder what he did to bring that up.
 
controversial or not, at least he's good at what he does
he certainly has a style of his own...
